Our Mission​

Our mission is to manage client capital with discipline, clarity, and responsibility. We aim to provide professional, research-driven investment solutions that support long-term financial well-being while delivering a consistent and transparent client experience.

What We Do

We construct and manage personalised investment portfolios through Personal Share Portfolios (PSPs) and risk-profiled Wrap Funds. Our solutions are available across discretionary investments, retirement/compulsory savings, and offshore endowments. Every portfolio is managed under our Category II licence, giving clients the benefit of active oversight, robust risk management, and a cohesive long-term investment strategy.

Van Zyl du Preez
Founder & CIO

Van Zyl is our senior portfolio manager and a founding partner at If Capital. He started gaining experience in the investment environment in 1998 and turned professional in 2008.  After graduating from Stellenbosch University, he started his professional career at JP Morgan & Chase, and after which he started his own investment management company. He is the Chief Investment Officer and Key Individual on the FSCA license for If Capital.

Zoë Travers
Investment Analyst

Zoe is our Investment Analyst at If Capital and plays a key role in the firm’s distribution efforts in the Western Cape. She completed a BCom Honours degree in Investment Management and Banking at the University of the Free State, after which she started her career in the Private-Capital space. With a strong foundation in financial research and client engagement, Zoe is responsible for expanding If Capital’s presence and relationships in the region, while also contributing to investment analysis and strategy development within the team.

HJ Grobbelaar, CFA
Portfolio Manager

HJ is our Portfolio Manager and Investment Analyst at If Capital, where he plays a key role in constructing and managing bespoke investment portfolios. He is a CFA charterholder and holds a BCom Honours degree (Cum Laude) in Investment Management and Financial Economics from the University of the Free State. He also holds the FMVA designation from the Corporate Finance Institute, complementing his analytical and valuation expertise.
